
Larry Wayne Hopkins, 55, of the Old River Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. He was born in Jena, on October 16, 1960 to the union of his parents, W. K. “Pete” and Betty Sue Pritchard Hopkins. Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, at the Pritchard Baptist Church on Old River with the Revs. Terry Doughty and Gary Norris officiating. Interment followed in the Pritchard Cemetery under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Mag Pritchard, and paternal grandparents, Sam and Elemena Hopkins. Survivors include his parents, Pete and Betty Hopkins of the Old River Community; two sisters, Barbara Sue Ganey and husband Lyle of Searcy and Melissa Engles and husband Brent of Whitehall; a brother, Kenny Ray Hopkins and wife Kima of Yukon, OK; two nieces, Julie Hopkins and fiancé Jakob Norris and Maggie Engles; four nephews, Levi Hopkins and wife Lacey, Joe Hopkins and wife Tessa, Caleb Ganey and wife Anna-Marie, and Sam Engles; two great-nieces, Cheyenne Hopkins and Ramsey Hopkins; one great-nephew, Tyson Hopkins; special cousin, Lisa Ganey; sister-inlaw, Janet Hopkins; caregiver and friend, Shantae Osteen; and a host of other family and friends. Pallbearers were Levi Hopkins, Joe Hopkins, Caleb Ganey, Sam Engles, Lloyd Breithaupt, and Scott Ganey. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Miller, Larry Romero, James Knox and the men of Pritchard Baptist Church.
