A. J. Duke, 83 of Jena, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. He was born on Sunday, September 18, 1932 in Shreveport, to the union of Clyde Clarence and Pearl Estella Cupples Duke. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 2, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Willie Beaubouef and R. V. Couch officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery near Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Daisy Fern Windham Duke; his parents; and a great-greatgrandson, Chaston Manuel Clark. Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Jones of Jena and Debra Waits and husband Bo of Houston, TX; a son, Jacky Duke of Pensacola, FL; five grandchildren, James Jones, Teresa Jones, Michael Waits and wife Robin, Melinda Parker and husband Jarred, and Brandon Watts and wife Jennifer; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were David Boyette, Darren Shipley, Jeremy Dupuis, Juston Boyette, Jessie Hudnall, and Wayne Davis. Honorary pallbearer was John Hutchins.
