Tom Green Joy

Tom Green Joy, 89, of Rhinehart, passed from this life on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena. He was born October 18, 1926 in Walters to the union of his parents, Dave Franklin and Sallie Bradford Joy. Mr. Joy worked for the La- Salle Parish Police Jury for 31 years, retiring in 1985 as maintenance superintendent. He loved hunting and fishing and served his country in the United States Army. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, in the Pritchard Baptist Church of Old River Community with the Revs. Terry Doughty, Daniel Breithaupt and Matthew Murrell officiaiting. Interment followed in the Pritchard Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Sue Joy; and his parents. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Syble Pritchard Joy of Rhinehart; daughter, Dottie Allen and husband Lonnie of Nebo; sons, Tommy Glen Joy and wife Marlene of Jena, Robert L. Joy and wife Paula of San Antonio, TX, and Alan D. Joy and wife Christy of Nebo; sister, Hazel Heitman of Austin, TX.; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jason Allen, Brandon Joy, Robbie Joy, Jessica Allen Breithaupt, Jeannie Joy Smith, Alan Joy, Calvin Deason and Caleb Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Pete Hopkins, Wayne McGuffee, Mark Windham, Ernest Taylor, Bobby Francis, Melton Wheat, David A. Joy, Doyle Pritchard, Kohl Joy, Lonnie Allen and John Joy.
