Melvin Burnside, 87, of Jena, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in Jena. He was born Wednesday, August 18, 1926 in Lillie, LA to the union of Floyd and Irene Bryant Burnside. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, four brothers, and four great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Burnside and wife Linda and Ronald Burnside, all of Jena; four daughters, Julie Burnside, Mary LaVerne McNeese, both of Downsville, Nena McNeese and husband LaVelle of Courtland, VA, and Jeannie Bishop of Jena; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
