Gertrude “Gladys” Guin

Gertrude “Gladys” Guin, 87, of Urania, passed from this life on Friday, March 7, 2014, at the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena. She was born May 21, 1926 in Flatwoods to the union of her parents, Ben and Laura Vercher Arnold. Mrs. Guin was a homemaker, and faithfully attended Tullos United Pentecostal Church until her illness. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved flowers and had a beautiful rose garden. Her grandchildren will miss her homemade biscuits and chicken and dumplings. Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, at Tullos United Pentecostal Church in Tullos with the Revs. Henry Rachal, III, and E. R. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Bay Springs Cemetery in Chopin under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mallie Guin; daughter, Bonnie Ruth Rester; her parents; two brothers, Wilmer Arnold and Junior Arnold; and two sisters, Lucille Goins and Elsie Mae Arnold. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Babcock of Tullos and Helen Cassady of Beckville, TX; four sons, John Guin of Montgomery, Milo Guin of Xenia, OH, Steve Guin of Tullos, and Nathan Guin of Newellton; one sister, Lutille “Bea” McGlothin of Dry Pring; 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Tullos United Pentecostal Church, 10184 South Main Street, Tullos, LA 71479.
