Rev. Arvie Jolly, 83, of Deville, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at his residence. He was born May 18, 1934 to his parents, Mannuel Washington and Salomie Claire Sanson Jolly. Rev. Jolly served for 62 years in pastoral ministry, all primarily with the Free Methodist Church. He served as Superintendent of the Louisiana Conference Free Methodist Church for 10 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, trapping and enjoyed duck and deer hunting. He enjoyed traveling in the Great Smoky Mountains with his wife, Barbara. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and will be greatly missed. Rev. Jolly was no stranger in LaSalle Parish, as he made many friends while working with his son, Aaron Jolly, in his plumbing business. Services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, at the Martha’s Chapel Free Methodist Church of Deville with Dr. Sam Tinsley officiating. Interment followed in Martha’s Chapel Cemetery of Deville under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Pineville. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Amanda Promise; brothers, Truley Jolly, J. R. Jolly, James Jolly, George Jolly, Cader Chevallier, and Leo Chevallier; sisters, Lou Ann Ryder, Dovie O’Neal, Evie Allen and Eva Belgard. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Barbara Ann Jolly; sons, Mark Jolly and wife Katie, Lewis Bruce Jolly and wife Cherryl Darlene and Aaron David Jolly, Sr. and wife Lisa; sister, Eloise Poston; grandchildren, Brennan, Constance, DeAnn, Katrina, David, Truley, Caitlin, Renee, Stacey; great grandchildren, Zack, Gracie, Seth, Jesse, Dylan, Kryssa, Isabella, Adriel, A’Manda, Stevyna, Blayne and Heath. Pallbearers were Truley Jolly, David Jolly, Stanley Jolly, Rusty Autrey, Zachary Lucius, Mike Chestovich, Christopher Saucier and Jim Zeigler.
