Viva M. Amyx

Viva M. Amyx, 101 of Jena, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, in Jena. She was born Tuesday, February 14, 1916 in Mount Ida, Arkansas, to the union of Charlie and Sara Moon Murphy. Mrs. Amyx was a member of the Methodist Church and for many years she and her late husband was co-owners of the Amyx Gravel Company of Jena. Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 22, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Byron Gray officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery, east of Jena, under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Lee Amyx; her parents, seven sisters, and one brother. She is survived by her son, Sidney Amyx and wife Rita of Jena; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Sid Amyx, Dewey Amyx, Cameron Normand, Wayne McGuffee, Steve Norris, and Ronald “Bo” Hudnall.
