LaVessa Stringer Erwin, 85, of the Searcy Community , passed from this life on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Claiborne Memorial Medical Center in Homer, Louisiana.
She was born February 8, 1932 in Little Creek, to the union of Green Emery and Minnie Stringer.
LaVessa loved music, animals, flowers, and especially fishing! She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was also a Christian and member of Searcy Baptist Church, where she served as music director for many years.
Services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena, with Rev. Reid Terry officiating.
Interment followed at Hawthorne Cemetery of Little Creek under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. D. Erwin, Jr.; her parents; brother, Ottis Stringer; and grandson, Micah Cody Erwin.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron P. Erwin and wife Kathleen of Cornersville, TN, and Darrell Keith Erwin of Trout; daughter, LaDarla Dixon and husband Lynn of Homer; brother, Lawson Stringer of Trout; grandchildren, Rebecca Chandler of Sterlington and William Hawthorne both of Jonesville, and Noah Dixon of Homer; and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dwan Stringer, Collin Stringer, Hanson Stringer, Dan Stringer, John Rodney Campbell, and Lionel Posey.
