Kevin Scott Leavins, 50, of Olla, passed from this life at 10:50 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his residence following a very long illness. A native of Pineville, Kevin had lived most of his life in LaSalle Parish where he worked in the oilfield as a rough neck, and for seven and one-half years, worked in the prison at Caldwell Corrections. Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 19, in the Antioch Free Methodist Church with Rev. Harvey Glenn Roark officiating. Interment followed in the Wilbanks Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alton and Alma Smith and Joe and Marie Leavins. Survivors include his wife, Veronica Thacker Leavins of Olla; two sons, Tory Scott Leavins and wife Lynn of Antioch, and Logan Heath Leavins and wife Amber of Aimwell; grandchildren, Levi Scott Leavins, Jasper Lane Leavins, and Conner Love; his parents, Joe and Joyce Leavins of Antioch; two brothers, Craig Leavins of Antioch and Christopher Leavins of Baton Rouge; and two sisters, Stephanie Smith of Little Creek and Hailey Leavins of Antioch. Pallbearers were Tory Leavins, Logan Leavins, Josh Thacker, Craig Leavins, Shadrick Thacker and James Gray. Honorary pallbearers were Juan Thacker and Joseph Williams.
