Wanda Sue Orman Stenhoff, 67, of Tullos, passed from this life on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. She was born December 26, 1948 in Ruston to the union of her parents, Arthur and Opal Loe Orman. Wanda received her beautician’s license and worked many years as a hairdresser. In the last several years she has been a homemaker and a volunteer with the Olla Fire Department. She enjoyed collecting teddy bears and taking care of her mother’s doll collection. Wanda loved dogs and had many through the years. Services were held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, from the sanctuary of Olla United Methodist Church with Rev. Aaron Carpenter officiating. Interment followed in the Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Don Stenhoff. Survivors include her special friend, Carl Damron; numerous cousins and great-cousins; members of the Fire Department of Olla and lots of friends. Pallbearers were Shelby Loe, Sr., Shelby Loe, II, Jerrod Douglas, Jake Long, Kendall Normand and Ricky Harris. Wayne Surveal Poole, 71, of Summerville, gained his Heavenly reward shortly after 9 p.m. last Saturday night, August 27, 2016. He was born April 1, 1945 to the union of his parents, Cary Surveal and Elizabeth Octavia Whitehead Poole. Wayne was a carpenter by trade, and of the Baptist faith. Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, at Summerville Baptist Church with the Revs. Mickey Hudnall, Glen Roark, and Jess Henderson officiating. Interment followed in the Spring Ridge Cemetery near Aimwell under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Dee Powell, Linda Haye and Elaine Poole. Mary Catherine Paul, 75, of Jena, passed from this life on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. She was born January 14, 1941 to the union of her parents, Allen Monroe, Jr. and Francis Catherine Uttz Moore. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug.29, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Rhinehart. Interment followed under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, J. O. Paul. Survivors include one brother, Frank Allen Moore of Lumberton, TX; and one sister, Margie Kay Ellis of Vidor, TX.
Sharon Sue Isonhood

Sharon Sue Mc-Guffee Isonhood, 75, of Enterprise, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at home after a strong fought battle with cancer. She was born July 4, 1941 in Enterprise to the union of her parents, Ancel and Ruby McGuffee. Sharon was a loving wife to Earl Isonhood for 54½-years. They were married on January 25, 1962. Although God did not bless Sharon with children, He used her to bless many children from California to Louisiana and she loved each and every one of them. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 27 from the sanctuary of New Ouachita Baptist Church at Enterprise with the Revs. James King and Craig James officiating. Graveside services followed in the Rosefield Cemetery in Rosefield under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Darryl McGuffee. Survivors include her loving husband, Earl Isonhood of Enterprise; her sister, Rita McGuffee Andrews and husband Max of Jena; brother, Cary McGuffee and wife Krista of Enterprise; and many nieces, nephews and devoted friends.

Mary Edith Guin, 88, of Tullos, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at The Summit. She was born July 2, 1928 to the union of her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Faye Albert. Mrs. Guin was a member of Bentley United Pentecostal Church and pioneer of the Pentecostal Faith, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She retired as a housekeeper from Parkview Nursing Home, Winnfield. Services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Bentley United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Bruce Maxwell, E. R. Johnson, Craig Martin, Leland Guin and Donnell Spurgeon officiating. Interment followed in the Bay Springs Cemetery of Chopin under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Pineville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Guin; son, Clarence Wayne Guin; her parents; siblings, Arthur Albert, Henry Albert, Sam Albert, Clarence Beasley and Octavia Daniels. Survivors include her sons, Shelton Guin and wife Elizabeth, and Joel Guin; daughter, Rita Shelton and husband William; ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Leland Guin, Heath Guin, Gary McDaniel, Joel Edward Guin and Bobby Lynn Albert.

Amanda Cathleen Trichel Dale, 85, of Sicily Island, passed from this life on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Plantation Oaks Nursing Center in Wisner. She was born April 24, 1931 in Jena to the union of her parents, Edwin Berchman, Sr. and Mae Andrews Trichel. Cathleen grew up in Harrisonburg, attending Harrisonburg Elementary and High School. She graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge where she completed her senior year. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Louisiana State University. She returned home to begin a long and rewarding teaching career, which included teaching business education at Sicily Island High School and Ferriday High School and mathematics at Martin Junior High School in Sicily Island. Mrs. Dale was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Sicily Island where she served as pianist and taught the Senior Ladies’ Sunday School Class. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Louisiana Retired Teachers’ Association. Services were held at 1 p.m., Sunday, August 28, at Sicily Island First Baptist Church with the Revs. James Gass and Kenneth Hoots officiating. Interment followed in the Harrisonburg Cemetery under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville. Cathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Sam E. Dale, Jr.; and her brother, Berchman Trichel, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Dale of Harrisonburg, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Travis Bowlin, Michael Louis Heaton, Dave Allen Hudspeth, Matt Myers, Michael Tubre and Sidney Tubre. Arrangements were under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Jo Book; sons, Kenny M. Book, Robert Y. Book, Carl J. Book and Mark J. Jimmie G. White, 72, of Jena, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Jena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jena. Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Jena Church of God with Rev. Kent Hatfield officiating. Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery in the Belah-Fellowship Community under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman White and Inez Dotson White; one brother, Willie Allen White; and great nephew, Jayden Temple. Survivors include his two brothers, John R. White, Sr. and wife Kathy and Roy Lee White; five nieces; three nephews; five great nieces; three great nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers were John R. Helen Yvonne Herrington Peyton of Lafayette passed away on September 3, 2016, nine days shy of her 81st birthday. She was born on September 12, 1935, in a little lumber town, Urania, to her loving parents, Jewel Gregory Herrington and Robert George Herrington. Helen attended Urania High School where she graduated as Salutatorian. She loved music and played the French Horn in the high school band. She also won a scholarship to LSU by winning a singing competition in Baton Rouge as part of a women’s trio. At 18 years old, she married 20-year old John Ray Peyton, Sr. in Woodville, MS, to whom she was married for 58 years. For the next several years she followed him to the drilling rigs in West Texas as he worked his way up in the oilfield and they eventually settled in Lafayette. She was a devoted mother, raising three children and was also the grandmother of ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Jewel was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Lafayette since 1964. She taught children in Sunday school for over 30 years. She lived a Christian life and was kind to everyone. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and wife, and the Lord’s faithful servant. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6, at First Baptist Church of Lafayette with Dr. Steve Horn officiating. Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery under direction of Delhomme Funeral Home – Bertrand. She was preceded in death by her husband, and parents. Survivors include her three children, John Ray Peyton, Jr. of Lafayette, Christie Jumonville of Covington, and Julie Peyton Sanders and husband Robert Scott Sanders of Austin, TX; ten grandchildren, Kellie Rogers and husband Doug, Ami Peyton-Kleiner and husband Stephen Insler, Neil Angelle, Katelin Jumonville, Hallie Jumonville, Patrick Jumonville, Austin Tedesco, Mackinsey Sanders, Sydney Sanders, and Carson Sanders, as well as five great-granddaughters. William “Bill” J. Ryan, 82, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at his home. He was born January 5, 1934. His passion was family, friends and playing ball. He especially loved playing basketball and volleyball with his sons and grandson. He also loved to dance a jig on the dance floor with anyone that was ready to dance all night. He was loved by all that met him. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Joel Ford and Rusty Hathcock, and Dr. Philip Caples officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery near Jena under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Ryan; and siblings, Milo Ryan, Nellie Linder, Vonda Ford, Leo Ryan, Violet Gerbish, and Roger Ryan. Alice Annette Redfearn Parker, 72 of Georgetown, passed from this life on Sunday, September 4, 2016. She was born Wednesday, October 20, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida to the union of her parents, Herbert Lloyd Redfearn and Alice Rose Maxwell Armstrong. Mrs. Parker was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother, devoting her full-time attention to her family. Memorial services will be announced at a later date under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sydney Cruse; and brother, R. Clark Redfearn.
