
Charles Boyette, 76, of the Walters Community, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2016, in Jena. He was born Monday, March 13, 1939 in Sicily Island to the union of his parents, James Quitman and Anna Penniston Miles Boyette. Charles was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked for the federal government for 42 years. He served faithfully at the Jena Post Office before retiring. He was a 32nd degree Shriner and member of the Michael Dempsey Lodge #327 F&AM in Jena. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 13, at Prosperity Baptist Church at Walters with the Revs. Tommy Sanson and Larry Whittington officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery at Deville under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Reginald Boyette. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nina Roberts Boyette of Walters; two sons, Aaron D’Wayne Boyette and Charles “Chuck” Boyette, both of Jonesville; a daughter, Cindy Boyette Pickett of Pineville; two brothers, Johnny Boyette and wife Mary Dean and James Boyette, all of Jonesville; two sisters, Inez Book of Jena and Guynell Young of Pollock; nine grandchildren, Zachary Pickett, Jacob Pickett, Julianna Pickett, Aaron Boyette, Morgan Boyette, Allison Boyette, Mallory Boyette, Madalyn Boyette, and M’Lynn Boyette; and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Zach Pickett, Jacob Pickett, Aaron Boyette, Johnny Wilkinson, Fred Cheramie, and Chris Clark. Honorary pallbearers were Shelby Masters, Hays Huffman, Eddy Bodie, Lavelle Stevenson, and Wesley Otwell.
