Kenneth “Babs” Young, 69, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his residence in Olla. He was born August 17, 1946 in Olla to the union of his parents, Spencer and Lucy Westbrooks Young. Babs proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years and was a member of the Columbia American Legion. He owned and operated Kenneth Young Logging. He loved to hunt and fish. He loved to go four wheeler riding with his grand-daughter Patricia. She was his Punkin. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 5, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Ricky Gresham officiating. Interment followed in the Westbrooks-Swilley Cemetery near Olla under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Young; his parents; brother, Clyde Young; four sisters, Edith Humble, Alene Coleman, Mae Coleman, and Mavis Howell; and brother-in-law, Charles Howell. Survivors include his daughter, Angel Smith of Olla; the love of his life, his only granddaughter, Patricia Gayle Smith; two brothers, Spencer Young and wife Harriet of Holum, and Davis Young and wife Dewanna of Urania; sister, Jewel Coleman and husband William of Olla; sister-in-law, Eunice Slaton of Calhoun; two brothers-in-law, Edward Humble and Gilbert Coleman. Pallbearers were Bradley Humphries, Chad Breland, J. F. Westbrooks, Jr., Vance Grissom, Tommy Joe Francis, and David Moreaux. Honorary pallbearers were Preacher Westbrooks, J. F. Westbrooks, Sr., Gerald Brooks, and Leroy Westbrooks.
