James Edward Womack

James Edward Womack, 71, a Winn Parish native, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, following a brief courageous battle with cancer, while surrounded by family and friends. He was born December 14, 1944 to the union of his parents, E. C. and Mary Belle Womack. James was a retired truck driver and a United States Navy veteran with two tours of Vietnam. He enjoyed working with his cows, working hay fields, enjoying a good meal, visiting and talking “truck” especially Emeryville models. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 4, at the Jordan Hill United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Gary Wright, Willie Beaubouef, and Brian Montgomery officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Walter and Belle Womack; maternal grandparents, J.R. “Jim” and Emma Smith; and a great niece, Naomi Taylor Ellis. Survivors include five sisters, Carolyn Sue and Johnny Barnhill, Evelyn and Johnny Garner, Judy and Paul Garner, Arlene and Jerry Roberts, and Connie and Mike Snowden and host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Gavin Snowden, Michael Roark, William “Bud” Ellis, Daylon Garner, Brandon Garner, and Dayton Combs.
