Doris T. Jack, 87, of Jena, passed from this life on Monday, December 14, 2014, in a Texas Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 5, 1928 in Jena to Dennis (Diddle) and Bertha Richardson Thomas. Doris attended school in LaSalle Parish and after completing high school, she attended and graduated from Grambling State University. After marrying Will Jack, she worked in Ville Platte at James Stevens High School. Following her work there for many years, she returned to LaSalle Parish and continued to work until retirement at Jena Elementary School. Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19 at New Evergreen Baptist Church of Jena with Rev. Stanley Mathis officiating. Interment followed in the Webster Cemetery in Good Pine. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Andrew and A. D.; and sister, Ernestine Johnson. Survivors include Johnnie M. Johnson and Dewan Jack of Alexandria; Ywanti Jack of Ft. Worth, TX, Darwin Jack (Ann) of Jena, Donnell Farris of Dallas, TX; six foster children, 29 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren; a niece, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Ben Reid, DeWayne Howard, Donte’ Jenkins, Curling Brinson, John Jenkins, and Casey Jones, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Dwan Jack, Darwin Jack, Cartez Jack, Dewayne Jack, Vincent Jack, Donnell Farris, Jay Broadwell, and Willie R. Thomas.
