Baxter Alexander Hatcher, 68, of Jena, passed from this life on Sunday, May 10, 2015. He was born July 5, 1946 to the union of Baxter Roosevelt and Cornealous Gray Hatcher. Baxter graduated from Good Pine High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam and attained the rank of E6 before being honorably discharged. He worked for 20 years at both United Gas Pipeline and the LaSalle Parish School Board, at Jena High School, before retiring from both jobs. Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 16, at Good Pine Middle School Gymnasium with Rev. Dave Mays officiating. Interment was in the Webster Cemetery in Good Pine under direction of Gayden Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ernest Lee Hatcher; and a son, Adrian L. Hatcher. Survivors include his loving wife, Jacqueline J. Walker Hatcher; his daughter, Mechelle L. Hatcher; his grandson, Brandon Nevann Hatcher; his granddaughter, Avaian Hatcher; and sister-in-law, Mattie Collins Hatcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
