
Yvonne Francis Cockerham, 87, of Trout, went home to be with the Lord onTuesday, February 10, 2015, following an extended battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born February 8, 1928 in the Mt. Sinai Community to the union of her parents, Mick and Luella Arnold Francis. Yvonne graduated from Trout Good Pine High School in 1945, where she was a member of the state championship girl’s basketball team. She was a homemaker, a loving
mother and grandmother, and a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Denver McBroom and Carl Gulde officiating. Interment followed in the Chalk Hill Cemetery in the Little Creek Community under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marvin J. Cockerham, ho
passed from this life on Dec. 19, 2014; her parents; sisters, Irma McCartney, Jewel Love, Bernice Jones, and Lillie Ganey; and brothers, Ed Francis, W. E. “Shorty” Francis, Hub Francis, and Claude Francis. Survivors include one son, Jack Cockerham and wife Mitzi of French Settlement; one daughter, T. Lynn Cockerham of Pineville; special cousin, Bonita Franklin and family; grandchildren, Sam Cockerham Smith and husband Carl, Amanda Jean Price, Sadye Batts, and Jerid Achord and wife Heather; and great grandchildren, Lydia, Luke, Madison, Emmalee, Kali, and Julia. Pallbearers were Mac Stapleton, John Jenkins, Joe Jones, Kevin Paul, Joey Mc- Cann, and Charlie Franklin. Honorary pallbearers were Jean Andrews, Louis Martin Paul, John LeBlanc, Bo Nealy, and Tommy Francis
