Acie H. Murry

Acie H. Murry, Jr., 91, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in the LaSalle General  Hospital of Jena. He was born August 21, 1923 to the union of his parents, Acie Murry, Sr. and Ione 
Thompson Murry. Acie proudly served his country in the United States Navy with the 301st Seabee Battalion. He was a veteran of World War II, Pacific Theatre. During his working life, he  was the owner and operator of his own service repair company in Jonesville, but served many customers in the La- Salle Parish area. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in the Sandy Lake Community of Catahoula Parish, a member of the Eastern Star and was on the Board and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Acie was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and past Master of Jonesville Four Rivers Lodge. He was a great storyteller and a loving father,
grandfather, and friend who is gone from us and will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Services celebrating his life were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 2, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Craig James officiating.
Interment, with Masonic Rites, followed in Bethel Cemetery of Colfax under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary McNeely Murry; infant daughter;
parents; sister, Margaret Murry; and brothers, Leroy Murry, Glenn Murry, Dewayne Murry, Earnest Murry, and Pat Murry. Survivors include two  sons, Acie H. Murry, III and wife Millie, and Robert J. Murry and wife Terri; daughter, Virginia Reeves and husband George; three grandsons, Thomas Reeves, Jesse Reeves and Derick Murry; two granddaughters, Yvonne Reeves and Kristy Murry; one great grandson, Triston Murry; and a host of other family
members and friends.
