James Marvin Girod, Sr., 78, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Thursday, April 25, 2013, in Jonesville. He was born September 3, 1934 to the union of his parents, Gerald and Alice Girod. Mr. Girod was a resident of Jonesville, retiring after 43 years with Armstrong Tire, and was a member of Lake Lilly Baptist Church. He loved to fish and hunt and spending time in the outdoors with his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at Mayna Church of God with Rev. Lloyd Trisler officiating. Interment followed in the Pala Alto Cemetery under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie Girod; and a sister, Joyce Marie Girod. Survivors include two sons, James Girod, Jr. and wife Deborah of Jonesville, and Douglas “Boody” Girod, Sr. and wife Debra of Rosefield; one daughter, Vickie McCaskill and husband Charles of Madisonville; six grandchildren, Heath McCaskill, Christy Girod, Douglas Girod, Jr., Shelly Gautreaux, Terence Girod and Adam Girod; one step-grandson, Justin Meredith; a sister, Irma Shell of Baton Rouge; and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were George White, Jr., Jonathon Smith, Doug Girod, Jr., Heath McCaskill, Shelby Carr, and Marvin McLain. Honorary pallbearers were Jess McLain, Terence Girod, Adam Girod, and Randy White.
