Sadie Marie Turnley Randleman

Sadie Marie Turnley Randleman, 91, of Shreveport, and a native of Trout, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. She was born June 7, 1923 near Trout, being the  daughter of Idolphus Carroll Turnley, Sr., a rural mail carrier, and Nancy Rebecca Turnley, a homemaker. Sadie was the second of four children and was surrounded by numerous grandparents,  aunts, uncles, and cousins. She graduated from Trout-Good Pine High School in 1940, and graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Home Economics. After teaching school in Louisiana and in Quantico, Virginia, she found her life’s career at the Naval Research  Laboratory in Washington, D.C., rising to the position of Assistant to the Director of the Division of Electronic Warfare. Sadie had a passion for Colonial American Antiques. She and Randy, her beloved husband, spent many years traveling and collecting in that pursuit. After retirement, Sadie returned to Louisiana, settling in Shreveport. Quilting became a new joy and she met many wonderful friends while she perfected her art. A service in her memory was held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Belah United Methodist Church in the Belah Community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle “Randy”  Randleman. Survivors include one daughter, Marian Mauldin and husband Hugh; one son, Walter Mayhew; grandchildren, Daniel Mauldin, Gabe Mauldin and wife Lisa, and Jared Mauldin and wife Sarah Kate; great grandchildren, Caleb, Elizabeth, Rachel,  Ben, Maggie, and Daniel; one brother, Dr. I. C. Turnley, Jr. of Jena; and numerous other special relatives and many friends.
