
Martha Etter Smith Beavers, 74, of Georgetown, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Jena Nursing and Rehab Center in Jena. She was born Monday, November 6, 1939, in Winnsboro, to the union of Eugene Marcus and Vannie Bennett Smith. Mrs. Beavers was a waitress and a home caregiver for many years. Services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at Georgetown United Pentecostal Church in Georgetown with Rev. Amanda Carpenter and Brother Donnell Spurgeon officiating. Interment followed in the Georgetown Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Ray Beavers; two brothers, Joseph Smith and Paul Smith; one sister, Estell Ramey; and a great grandson, Levi McGlothlin. Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Dean Skelton of Savannah, GA, and Marie B. Hulsey and husband George of Trout; one sister, Debra Smith of Longview, TX; nine grandchildren, Jeremiah, Marcus, Robbie, Jacob, Winnie, Vanessa, Cassie, Megan, and Zachary; and 12 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jeremiah Skelton, Jacob Hulsey, Cody Smith, Phillip McWilliams, Chad Hulsey, and John Bruce, with Thurman Beavers serving as an honorary pallbearer.
