Janie Bonds Thibodeaux, 66, of Calhoun, and a former resident of Jena, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe while undergoing treatment for Covid pneumonia.
She was born February 1, 1955 in Mansfied to the union of her parents, Albert and Wyomia Bonds. She grew up in the Mansfield area with her siblings.
Whenever she spoke of her childhood, she would mention her grandmother. Janie was very close to her grandmother, Mattie Bonds. She would always say how she never wanted to be away from her for too long as a child and even slept in the bed with her up until she got married and moved out.
She loved sharing stories from her childhood and the house she grew up in, from the festive holiday get togethers to it being the home where many friends would gather.
Janie lived in Jena, for 15-plus years and it was here she raised her three children and formed many lasting friendships.
Janie was a cosmetologist and moved to the Monroe area in 1995 to manage a new salon across from NLU. She spent many years doing hair and behind a make-up counter at Pecanland Mall. She enjoyed what she did and making others feel good about themselves. She always greeted everyone with a big smile.
Janie was classy, kind and nurturing. She was also a striking beauty! Her husband, Dale, always said she was the most beautiful woman in the room wherever they went. When she met Dale, she told everyone, “he’s the one”! They married on November 11, 2014, in Jamaica. Dale bought Janie the dream home she always wanted, and they have lived there in Calhoun for the past 5 years.
Above all, Janie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She always prayed for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Her children and grandchildren were her world and she always went above and beyond for them. She was the “rock” and “home” for her family and we are feeling a huge void in her absence.
Services celebrating her life was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 13, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with the Revs. Neil Everett and R. B. Moore officiating.
Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun under direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Anna Hatcher.
She is survived by her husband, Julius Dale Thibodeaux; son, Thomas Edward Hord, Jr.; daughters, Courtney Deville Cagle and husband Jeremy, and Candace Brooke Deville; stepchildren, Travis Thibodeaux and wife Kristina, and Monica Theriot and husband Jeremy; 15 grandchildren, Reid, Maggie, Matthew, Kate, Robert, Brooks, Lyric, Makinze, Halle, Cameron, Anderson, Dylan, Darcy, Remy, and Sylvie. She will also be missed on this earth by her Aunt Janie Griffith, as well as other family, many friends, and her dog Cosmeaux.
