David A. Gaspard

David Austin Gaspard, 70, of Jonesville passed from this life on Friday, July 17, 2020 in Jonesville following a battle with cancer.

He was born Wednesday, October 19, 1949 in Jonesville to the union of his parents, Clarence Gaspard and Inez White Gaspard.

David was a resident of Jonesville and a member of the Pentecostals of Jonesville.

He began his career in the printing field first at the Jonesville News and Catahoula Booster, two newspapers published by R. W. Wagner of Jena. At these two publications, David learned the trade and later was employed by Wagner at The Jena Times and Olla Tullos Signal in LaSalle Parish.

His printing career was put on hold in mid-1969 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. David served his country proudly and after being discharged, returned to the printing business, working mostly in Natchez, Mississippi.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 20, at the Pentecostals of Jonesville with Rev. Jack Knapp officiating.

Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery of Manifest under direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Cecil Gaspard and James Mayo Gaspard.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Gaspard of Jonesville; two sons, Brad Gaspard of Corpus Christi, TX, and David Gaspard of Jonesville; one daughter, Cassandra Poole of Littleton, CO; two sisters, Bertha Gallup of Monterey, and Shirley Bolin and husband Tim of Jena; three grandsons, Joel Poole, Carson Gaspard, and Bricen Gaspard; two granddaughters, Marissa Poole and Megan Gaspard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
