Doris Meyers Watson, 80, of Wallace Ridge Community in Catahoula Parish, passed from this life on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at her residence.
She was born Saturday, June 17, 1939 in Harrisonburg to the union of her parents, D. F. Meyers, Sr. and Mamie Meyers.
Doris was a member of Wallace Ridge Baptist Church and Gideons Auxillary. She retired after 20-plus years from Block High School as Cafeteria Manager. Doris never met a stranger and loved everyone. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her life revolved around her grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 6, at Heard Cemetery with Rev. Terry Doughty officiating.
Interment followed under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Doris was preceded in death by her “honey”, Willie Melvin Watson, Sr.; son, Willie Melvin Watson, Jr.; granddaughter, Jessica Danielle Winborne; her grandchild born in Heaven, Baby Russell; her parents; brother, D.F., Jr. “Son” Meyers; and two sisters, Mary Edna “Cooter” Sanders and Inez “Sister” Johnson.
She is survived by her three daughters, Renee Smith and her husband Marty of Wallace Ridge, Becky Winborne and husband Rusty of Townley, AL, and Necie Barker and husband Kenny of Wallace Ridge; four grandsons, Willie Melvin “Trey” Watson, III and wife Kelly of Glade, LA, Jeffrey Winborne and wife Margaret of Jasper, AL, Jared Winborne and wife Chelsea of Birmingham, AL, and Hunter Winborne and wife Hannah of Demopolis, AL; four granddaughters, Jenna Lewis and husband Robert of Northport, AL, Lacie Russell and husband Josh of Alexandria, Courtney Powell and husband Charlie of Jonesville, and Emma-Leigh Taunton and husband Micah “Phillip” of Jena; and her true pride and joy, her great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Willie Magnum, and Westin Watson, Addy Grace, Asher, Xander, and Maddox Taunton, Ava and Bekah Winborne, Remi and Rhett Powell, Jackson Lewis, and arriving very soon, Baby Katherine Russell; and brother, Zack Meyers of Harrisonburg.
Pallbearers were Willie Melvin “Trey” Watson, III, Josh Russell, Charlie Powell, Micah Taunton, Willie Magnum Watson, and Westin Watson.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeffrey Winborne, Jared Watson Winborne, Hunter Winborne, and Robert Lewis.
