Irma Dean ‘Baba Dee” Eubanks McGuffee, 89, of Enterprise, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Riverside Hospital in Alexandria.

She was born June 14, 1930 at Enterprise to the union of her parents, Pearl and William Oscar Eubanks.

First Peter 3 speaks of the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. Baba Dee was the picture of a gentle quiet spirit. To know her was to love her and she showed love to everyone she met. She met her true love early in life.

Dee and Doc were married 54 years, setting an example for all the generations to follow. Baba Dee loved her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and was very excited when her great-great-granddaughter was born.

She handmade each grandchild a quilt as a wedding present and a special blanket for each great-grand and was able to make one last blanket for her great-great-grand. Baba Dee loved her church and hated to miss any service at New Ouachita Baptist Church.

Baba Dee was a faithful WMU member and loved spending time with the WMU ladies. Her church family was very important to her. Any church function that involved food had everyone asking for Bab Dee’s famous Chicken Pie, a recipe which she has passed down but has yet to be perfectly replicated.

She loved to sing praises to our Great God. Sweet hymns were sung by her and her granddaughters just days before Jesus called her home. Baba Dee will be greatly missed by all her family and friends but through God’s grace there is confidence that we will meet again when we all get to heaven.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 2, from the sanctuary of New Ouachita Baptist Church in Enterprise with Rev. James King officiating, assisted by John Ed Bartmess.

Interment followed in the Rosefield Cemetery at Rosefield under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald McGuffee; brother, William Eubanks; granddaughter, Courtney McGuffee; and son-in-law, Cleve Womack.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Christine Philley (Freddie) of Montgomery, AL, Renard McGuffee (Annette) of Tyler, TX and Debra Womack of Manifest; sisters: Gloria Dray of Sterlington and Gnita Ellen (Johnny) of Monroe; brother, Maurice Eubanks of Ruston; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Ron Philley, Jeff McIntyre, Clay McGuffee, Webb Womack, Nick Nicholson, Terry Bacon, Hunter Nicholson and Johnny Ellen.

Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of New Ouachita Baptist Church.

The family request memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Gideon’s International or the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, 7200 Desaird Street, Monroe, LA 71203.
