Hardtner Rafferd Lott, 67, of Lafayette, and a native of LaSalle Parish, passed from this life on Sunday, June 30, 2019, in Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 14, 1952 to the union of his parents, Huey R. and Sylvia Davidson Lott, of the Zenoria-Georgetown area.
Affectionately known by most as Rafferd, he was a bright, and witty individual to all who knew him.
He spent his working life in the oilfield industry, where he started his off-shore work with Placid Oil Company. In 1978 he moved to Marathon Oil Company. He retired in 2014 after a successful career with Marathon Oil Company.
On his days at home he cherished his time with Linda and Hue. Rafferd was a true family man, and a loyal friend to all. He never met a stranger and could quickly begin a conversation with anyone. Always the friend who cared deeply for those he loved. He checked on his friends and family that were in need of comfort, and rejoiced in those happy moments they shared.
He was an avid duck hunter and fisherman. One of his favorite trips was to “the camp” on Toledo Bend. He loved the peace and comfort of being there. Rafferd was funny, loved to laugh, and through his charming personality, touched so many lives. A loyal husband, father, son and brother; he will be forever missed.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 5, at Georgetown Baptist Church with the Revs. Carl Griffin and Woody Rhimes officiating. Services were under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Mosely Lott of Lafayette; one son, Hue and wife Ashly of Tullos; one sister, Anne Lott of Jena; grandchildren, Ashton Poche, Alaina Whitehead, and Aaron Whitehead; one nephew, Matt Elkins; and two great nephews, Dalton Elkins, and Owen Elkins.
