
Doris Richardson Alexander, 99, of Jena, passed from this life surrounded by her loving family in the La-Salle Nursing Home of Jena on Saturday, March 30, 2019.
She was born February 11, 1920 to the union of Roy and Lula Richardson.
Ms. Alexander was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jena, and a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Rhinehart.
She was a sweet spirited soul, and was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted church worker and especially loved the Lord. Ms. Alexander was retired from the education system and was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She will certainly be missed by all who knew her.
Services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 1, at First Baptist Church in Jena with the Revs. Dominick DiCarlo and Terry Townsend officiating.
Interment followed in the Alexander Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janis Aplin and husband Marcus of Harrisonburg, and Martha Bryan and husband Kenny of Jena; grandchildren. Jenny Parker and husband Jamie, Lindsay Williams, Laurie Hunt and husband Stephen, Beau Bryan and wife Amanda; great grandchildren, Cydney Kate Parker, Sophie Williams, Lawson Henry, Easton and Kaiden Hunt; and a special friend she considered a daughter, Neva Ingram, and husband Reggie.
Pallbearers were Brad Foster, Briscoe Price, Lawson Little, David Mitchell, Tom Watkins, and Sam Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of First Baptist Church, W. B. McCartney, Sr., Jean Andrews, Donny Richardson, and Ronald Renfrow.
