William “Tommy” Lofton, 70, of Urania, passed from this life on Monday, August 26, 2013, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was born May 26, 1943 in Urania to the union of his parents, W. A. “Runt” and Dorgia Kilby Lofton. Tommy worked for the La-Salle Parish Sheriff’s Office for 27 years, during which nine of those years he also served as Chief of Police for the Town of Urania. He was a barber in Urania for 37 years and served as a member of the LaSalle Parish Police Jury for six years. Tommy loved his years as a barber and was a dedicated police officer for LaSalle Parish. Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 30, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with the Revs. Jim Lofton and E. R. Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Hill Cemetery of Urania under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two half-brothers, Guy Allen Lofton and Charles Lofton. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Darlene Lincecum Lofton of Urania; two sons, Tom Lofton and wife Christy and Anthony Lofton and wife Stacey; two grandsons, Ryan Cole Lofton and Matthew Lofton; granddaughter, Jennifer Lofton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers were Wayne Corley, Leland Guin, William Strain, David Cotton, Ryan Lofton, and Matthew Lofton. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. K. P. Mauterer and Ben Jenkins.
