James “Cactus Jack” W. Stapleton, 68, of Grayson, passed from this life on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia Heights.
He was born April 25, 1949 in Cory to the union of his parents, Harvey and Kattie Stapleton.
“Cactus Jack” was a cowboy who loved to rope and break horses.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Eddie Riley officiating.
Interment followed in the Welcome Home Cemetery, east of Grayson, under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ponzella Stapleton; and brothers, Murle Stapleton and Roy Stapleton.
He is survived by two sons, David Stapleton and Rona and Jimmy Stapleton and his wife Dianna, all of Grayson; two daughters, Robyn Welch and husband Josh of Iowa, and Lorie Taylor of Jena; two brothers, Luther Stapleton of Clarks and Johnny Stapleton of West Monroe; grandchildren, Ryan Stapleton, Hailey Stapleton, Hope Stapleton, Blake Perot, Harley Taylor, Dustin Taylor, Morgan Perot, Dylan Stapleton, Kelsey Stapleton, and Heaven Welch.
Pallbearers were Dylan Stapleton, Randy Kelly, Lakota Stapleton, Steely Smith, Blake Perot, and Pearl Adams.
