
Glen McCartney, 75, of the Hogeye Community near Searcy, passed from this life on Sunday, October 15, 2017, following an extended illness.
He was born January 8, 1942 to the union of James Nelson McCartney and Francis Hemphill McCartney, the second of five boys.
Glen married the love of his life, Arleen, on June 18, 1965, and they enjoyed 52 wonderful years together raising four kids.
Glen was a life long resident of LaSalle parish other than the three years he served his country in the United States Army, being stationed in Germany.
He was a big rig and heavy equipment mechanic for 55 years even owning his own diesel mechanic business he started in 1977 until he retired. After retirement he had more time for hunting and fishing which he loved to do, the last few years in the company of his faithful dog Diesel.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Revs. Curtis Smith and Ricky Gresham officiating.
Interment followed in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James Allen McCartney of Trout and Kenneth Ray “Katfish” McCartney of Jonesville.
He is survived by his loving wife, Arleen McCartney of Trout; children, Michael Glen McCartney and wife Lisa of Trout, Cathy Pittman of Trout, Susan Mills and husband Mike of Denham Springs, and Mark McCartney of Trout; six grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Pittman of Trout, Glen and Nick Mills of Denham Springs, Anthony and Christopher Rieman of Trout; and two brothers, Snuffy McCartney of Jena, and Gerald McCartney of Tyler, TX.
Pallbearers were Michael Glen McCartney, Mark McCartney, Mike Mills, Bradley McDowell, Kevin Windham, and Rickie Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers were W. D. Masters, Joe Merle Francis, and Joe Bacle.
