
James Melvin Whatley, 60, of Olla, passed from this life on Thursday, May 4, 2017, in Lafayette, Louisiana.
He was born Tuesday, June 26, 1956 in Jena, to the union of James Monroe Whatley and Vera Bernice Whatley.
James was a veteran and worked in the oilfield.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 8, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Clark Palmer officiating.
Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery in the Belah Community under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena.
He was predeceased by his wife Linda Randall Whatley; his parents; and a brother, Larry Whatley.
Survivors include his daughters, Angie Whatley of Jena, and Charlotte Blackwell of Olla; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
