
Audrey McVay, 89, of Enterprise, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. She was born September 1, 1923 in Harrisonburg to the union of her parents, Cary and Dollie Sones McGuffee. Mrs. McVay was a retired postmistress from the Enterprise Post Office, and was a member of the New Ouachita Baptist Church in Enterprise. She loved to play bingo and dominoes with family and friends. She considered the residents at the Arbor Assisted Living in West Monroe as her extended family and she was the designated “Happy Birthday” singer there. She went to every activity at the facility. Mrs. McVay worked at the family restaurant until she was 74 years old, and she loved to garden and had a beautiful yard. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 26, at New Ouachita Baptist Church in Enterprise with the Revs. Gary Maroney and James King officiating. Interment followed in the Old Catahoula Cemetery in Enterprise under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur McVay; son, Lanny McVay; and three grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Geraldine Cassels and husband DeWayne of Enterprise; two grandchildren, Mike Cassels and fiancé Melanie Chambers, and David Cassels and wife Misty; three great grandchildren, Morgan Cassels, Lauren Cassels, and Cameron Cassels. Pallbearers were Mike Cassels, David Cassels, Jerry Eubanks, Curtis Roark, Nathan Roark, and John Ed Bartmess. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Sheppard, Mike McGuffee, Alden Creel, Brian Wade, Earl Isonhood, and Stan Stanford.
