Meredith Lee Jackson, 70, of Jena, passed from this life on Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was born April 27, 1943 in Liberty, Mississippi to the union of his parents, Woodrow and Ella Pearl Cooper Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a welder by trade and a veteran of the United States Army. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 9, at the Nebo Cemetery in Nebo with Rev. Curtis Thornton officiating. Interment followed in the Nebo Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Bradford Jackson; and brother, Ricky Jackson. Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Elliott and husband Noland of Jena and Heather Jackson of Pineville; one sister, Glenda Nowicki of Zachary; three brothers, LaVere Jackson, Monterry Jackson and Mark Jackson, all of Liberty, MS; and two grandchildren, Jada Jackson and Isaiah Stafford. Pallbearers were Andy Jackson, Tim Jackson, Yantze Jackson, Chad McDaniel, Slade Bradford, and Jim Coleman. Nephews served as honorary pallbearers.
