Michael Wayne “Astro” Franklin, 57, of Urania, was called home on Monday, June 1, 2015, from his residence. He was born February 2, 1958 to the union of his parents, Huey and Margaret Franklin. Mike loved to sing, play his guitar and simply have a good ole time. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 6, at Pinehill Cemetery near Olla with Kevin Daugherty and Ricky Harris officiating. Arrangements were under the care of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kay Atwell; and niece, Michelle Atwell. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Franklin of Urania; son, Seth Franklin of Jena; step-son, Michel Lee and wife Rebecca of Urania; daughter, Toni Kitterlin of Jena; sister, Christy Smith and husband Randy of Kelly; five grandchildren, Lannah Kitterlin, Bradley Kitterlin, Kadence Franklin, Ellisa Franklin, and Erica Janson; three step-grandchildren, Mason Lee, Brianna Cox and Jestin Cox; as well as two nieces, two great nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
