
William D. Sneddon, 93, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Jena Nursing and Rehab Center in Jena. He was born July 3, 1919, in Glasgow, Scotland, to the union of his parents, William and Elizabeth Sneddon. Brother Sneddon was a member of the Olla Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His heart was in the ministry of helping those in prisons. He conducted Bible studies in prisons in New York State and Clarks. He loved his God and witnessed to anyone who would take the time to listen. He assisted several people in coming to a dedicated relationship with his God Jehovah. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Olla with Bro. Willie A. Hart officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ellen Sneddon; and a sister, Betty Lacy. Survivors include his beloved wife, Marie DeSoto Sneddon of Olla; three sons, Robert Sneddon and wife Linda of Oxford, NY, Wayne DeSoto and wife Julie of Marksville, and Douglas DeSoto and wife Jacqie of Cottonport; three daughters, Beth Bligh of Tampa, FL, Edie McClary and husband Ralph, and Janice Martinez and husband Donald, all of Kelly; a brother, Max Sneddon and wife Carol of Grand Junction, CO; his sister, Margaret Colano of Los Angeles, CA; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
