Nancy Holmes, 65, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. She was born September 25, 1948 in Olla to the union of her parents, Lawrence E. and Edith Yvonne McBroom Holmes. Nancy worked for many years at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially to fish and go to the beach. She was an extreme fan of the New Orleans Saints football team and Elvis. She treated her beloved dog of 16 years like a daughter. She loved her family and friends and never judged them no matter the situation. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 23, from the sanctuary of Standard Baptist Church near Olla with Rev. Shad Tibbs officiating. Interment followed in the Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew, Charles Holmes. Survivors include two brothers, Larry Holmes and wife Hilma of New Iberia, and Danny Holmes and wife Amanda of Denton, TX; three sisters, Mary Thomas and husband Buddy, and Wanda Coleman and husband Lowell, all of Coushatta, and Linda Weaver of Olla; special aunt, Jean Blazier; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and her Hardtner Medical Center family. Pallbearers were Andrew Volentine, Michael Volentine, Matthew Bailey, Corey Bailey,
Jason Coleman, Paul Shelton, Sonny Ernst, and Byron Guichet. Honorary pallbearers were Jeffrey Coleman, Ken Volentine, Michael Gonzales, Jordan Humphries, and Dustin Bailey
