Leola Estelle Sanders, 91, of Jena, passed from this life on Friday, February 26, 2021, at her home in Jena.
She was born May 15, 1929 in Black River Community.
Estelle was a member of East Jena Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, bingo, coloring, shopping for clothes and shoes, and she loved cats. She was a very loving mother and wife and was loved by everyone who knew her.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 1, at Bellevue Baptist Church in Jena with the Revs. Billy Edwards and Gary Norris officiating.
Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery, east of Jena, under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Elton Sanders; daughter, Emma Breland; father, Edgar Thompson; mother, Francis Morace Thompson; son-in-law, Joe Davis; and grandchildren, Donna Boyette, Jennifer Davis, Kimberly Davis, Troy Jr “TJ” Morace, Brittany Morace, and Tristan Jay Morace;
Those left to cherish in her memory include her sons, Elton Sanders (Sandy), Carlin Sanders (Sondra), and Royce Sanders (Brenda); daughters, Reba Evans (Jerry), Maureen Davis, and Linda LaBauve Trahan (Tommy); sister, Dorothy Kleinpeter (Cary); grandchildren, Susan, Troy, Missy, Lisa, Brad, Cory, Joey, Lucas, John, Teri, Dustin, Luke, Sarah W., Christine, Sarah D., Brittney, Hannah, Nicholas; 29 great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dustin Sanders, Dennis Roland, Luke Sanders, Cody Sanders, Josh Boyette, and Jimmy Walton.
