Jackie Benjamin “Blackie” Morris, 59, passed from this life on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Tulane Medical Center. He was born January 28, 1961 in Jonesville to the union of his parents, Robert Lee and Gloria Bell Morris. Blackie was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved the outdoors, but most of all he loved his family. He never met a stranger and was liked by many.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 18, at Good Road Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Bryan Taylor and Chad Franklin officiating.
Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery of Manifest under direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, J.B. and Eva Morris and Chester and Gurtie Franklin; one brother, Billy Morris; and a very special nephew, BJ Morris.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 40 years, Rhonda Morris; son, Eric Morris and wife Tiffany; daughter, April Williams and husband Vincent; special son, Sherman Sharp and Ashtyn; grandsons, Levi Morris, Noah Morris, Jackson Williams and Dawson Williams; special grandchildren, Ashton Williams and Braxton Williams; sister, Helen “Sissy” Cagle; brothers, Robert Morris (Darlene), Randy “Cookie” Morris and Kim Mills and Bobby Morris and Tina Morris; sister-in-law, Latricia Morris; plus many, many family and friends.
Pallbearers were Chris Guinn, Shawn Guinn, Dakota Phillips, Brady Hawks, Casey Smith, Hardy Bordelon, M.C Carter and Jim Deal.
Honorary pallbearers were Levi Morris, Noah Morris, Jackson Williams, Dawson Williams, Braxton “Bebop” Williams, Mike Ford, Casey Harrell, Robert “Coonie” Wayne Morris and Shelby Smith.
