
Rev. Jerry Wayne Wilson, 74, of Jena, passed from this life on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
He was born November 1, 1946 in Harrisonburg to the union of his parents, Cecil Wilson and Ethel Floyd Wilson.
Rev. Jerry was a pastor for 35 years, serving at Victory Baptist Church, Bird’s Creek Baptist Church, Standard Baptist Church, and Hurricane Creek Baptist Church. He was very proud of being a pastor and loved sharing the Gospel. He was still able to share the gospel with residents and staff at Haven Nursing Center, where he resided for the past two years.
He was also a wonderful educator for 25 years. He loved his students and wanted to see each and every one of them succeed. He was loved by many and held a special place in every person’s heart whom he met. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Private graveside services were held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Woodland Cemetery, east of Jena, with Rev. Terry Townsend officiating.
Interment followed under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rev. Tony Wilson; and his son, Brandon Wilson.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Delores Huffman Wilson; his daughter, Teresa Watts (Jamie); and his pride and joy, grandson Tyler Watts; one sister, Barbara Wilson; and two brothers, Bruce Wilson (Sally), and Bobby Wilson (Barbara).
Pallbearers were Lee Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Charlie Wilson, Steve Wilson, Jay Doucet and Tyler Watts.
