
James Willis Sones, 78, of Holum in Caldwell Parish, passed from this life on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia Heights. He was born November 13, 1935 in Holum to the union of his parents, Willis Jefferson and Bessie Mae Sones. Mr. Sones was a retired watchmaker. He loved music and liked to travel. He also enjoyed going to the casinos, dirt track racing, and boxing. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Benny Braddock officiating. Interment followed in the Little Star Cemetery of Holum under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Rev. William Cooper; and his best friend, Truman Boothe. Survivors include his daughter, Gina Darlene Neal and husband Randy of Jena; three sons, James Ronald Sones, Jeffery Ellis Sones and wife Janice, and Phillip Anthony Sones and wife Melissa, all of Holum; two sisters, Willie Mae Nugent and husband Delton of Holum, and Elaine Hancock and husband Gerald of Conroe, TX; nine grandchildren, Ashley Dean, Bridget Sones, Sabrina Hill, Brittany Hill, Joshua Dale Garringer, Casey James Garringer, Brandi Neal, Ashley Fraser, and Justin Fraser; and nine great grandchildren.
