Sybil Kathlyn Wilbanks, 93, of Jena, passed from this life on Friday, March 27, 2020, in the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena. She was born September 1, 1926 in Jena to the union of her parents, Preston E. and Katie Doughty Trichel.
Ms. Kathlyn, as she was affectionately known to all, was a bright spirited soul and always had a wit about her. She was loved by all who had opportunity to meet her. She was a devoted Christian and loved serving her Lord, and certainly had a great love for her church family.
She was also a member of the Town and Country Garden Club of Jena, and a member of The Red Hat Society in the nursing home. She has been an icon figure in the town of Jena for many years, and will certainly be missed.
Due to the mandates by the state of Louisiana in the recent COVID-19 outbreak, a private family visitation was held at Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, in the Jena Cemetery, east of Jena, with Dr. Rick Feazell officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gregg Wilbanks, Sr; her parents; one son, Grant L. Wilbanks; one brother, Billy E. Trichel; and a grandson, Steven Gregg Wilbanks.
Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Henry Gregg Wilbanks and wife Pat of Grayson, Gene Wilbanks and wife Karen of Laurie, MO, and Gary Wilbanks and wife Sharla of Jena; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.
The family has requested memorial donations be sent to any of the following places: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, the Cliff Williams Memorial Foundation, or the American Heart Association.
