Shelton Miles

Shelton “Buddy” Miles, 79, passed from this life on Friday, January 24, 2020.

He was born December 9, 1940, to the union of Robert Miles, Sr. and Hortense Smith.

Buddy joined Starlight Baptist Church at an early age. After Starlight dissolved, he moved his membership to Harmonia Missionary Baptist Church. He attended school at Good Pine High School and also attended Grambling State University.

He was employed at Louisiana Pacific until his retirement in 1997.

Homegoing services were held at 12-noon on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Harmonia Missionary Baptist Church, Woodyard Road, in Olla, Rev. Clarence J. Reese, Sr., pastor, and Bishop Darrell D. Luther, officiant.

Interment followed in the Oak Forest Cemetery of Olla with final arrangements entrusted to King’s Funeral Home of Ruston.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris R. Green; two children, Debra Mattocks of Alexandria, and Donald Carter (Kimberly) of Houston, TX; four sisters, Annie Webb of Oakland, CA, Daisy Shelton of Dallas, TX, Betty Luther of Arcadia, FL, and Rita Miles of Kelly; three brothers, Robert Miles, Jr. of Olla, Henry Ross (Sharon), and Kenny Ross (Cheryl), all of Grayson; one brother-in-law, Herbert Sneed of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren, Ke’Nesha Mattocks, Quency Carter, Sydnee Bright, Keiyanu Mattocks, Kenton Carter, Khody Mattocks, Kylei Mattocks, and Kolston Mattocks; four great-grandchildren, Kameron Mattocks-Richard, Ka’Mariah Richard, Kyron Richard, and Lavender Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Active pallbearers were Benny Barnes, Henry Ross, Kasey Ross, Gary Brown, Robert Miles, Jr., Kenny Ross, Willie Smith, and Kendric White.

Honorary pallbearers were Donald Carter, Samuel Green, David W. Green, Silas Green, Jr., Joseph Green, and Herbert Sneed.
