Epho D. McEntyre, 94, of Jena, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at her home in Jena. She was born July 4, 1919 in Catahoula Parish to the union of her parents, Clarence Deville and Charlotte Mae Netherland Deville. Mrs. McEntyre and her late husband, “J.D.” were the owners of Mac’s Snack Bar, formerly A & W in the 1960s and 1970s in Jena. For the past several years, she has been a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother as well as aunt to a host of children. Her home was always a welcome place for all, where she showered love on all the children. She and her late husband lived in the East Jena Community and she was a member of East Jena Baptist Church along with many of her family. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Mickey Bounds, Curtis Smith, and Ronnie Tarver officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her husband, John “J.D.” McEntyre; parents; daughter, Johnnie Hudnall; granddaughter, Debra Hudnall; sisters, Valeree Smith, Jerry Peppers, and Myrtle “Mutt” Stringer. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn McDowell and Bettye Davis and husband Wayne, all of Jena; three very special girls who were like daughters, Rita Rinehart and husband Donald of Chatham, Connie Daniels and husband Roy, and Debbie Harrison and husband David, all of Monroe; five grandchildren, John Hudnall, Kristie Poole, Mike Eubanks, Jackie Johnson, and Greg Davis; 13 great grandchildren, Mandy Beasley, Travis Hudnall, Dillon Ford, Charis Ford, Devin Ford, Dalton Hearon, Bradley Eubanks, Daisi Eubanks, Brayden Eubanks, Raygan Johnson, Rylee Johnson, Keily Davis, and West Davis; four great great grandchildren, Lana Beasley, Cole Beasley, Laken Hudnall, and Rhylar Hudnall; and a host of nieces and nephews.
