Vernon B. “Buddy” Harris, 90, of Olla, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania.
He was born September 17, 1926 in Olla to the union of his parents, Patrick and Olene Smith Harris.
Buddy served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He was a longtime member of Olla First Baptist Church, and was an entrepreneur of a retail store in Olla. He loved to travel extensively and has visited every state.
Services were held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12 at First Baptist Church of Olla with the Revs. Johnnie Phillips and Greg Dunn officiating.
Interment followed in the Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Marie Harris; his parents; grandson, Nick Harris; and sister, Nellie Ruth Harris.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Harris and wife Suzanne of Olla; daughter, Vicki Rawski of Clinton, IL; grandchildren, Rochelle Moore, her husband Stephen and their son Matthew; Michael B. Rawski, his wife Katrina and their daughter Addesyn; Summer Pruett, her husband Anthony and their daughter, Kealie.
Pallbearers were Chris Harris, Mark Lindloff, Nathan Lindloff, Steve Long, Randy McCarty, and Mike Gilliam.
Honorary pallbearers were Smith Hopkins, Bobby McCartney, Bobby Harter, Al Spence, Bobby Stott, and Alvis Randall.
