Willie Oscar “W.O.” Holmes

Willie Oscar “W.O.” Holmes, 83 of Tullos, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017. He was born Monday, May 14, 1934, in Winnfield, to the union of his parents, Walter Clayton and Ola Mae Bruce Holmes. “W.O.” was retired from Huey P. Long Vocational School and served in the US Army from 1956-58. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, at Calvary Baptist Church, west of Tullos, with Rev. Dick DeBusk officiating. Interment followed in the Beech Creek Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Holmes and Jimmy Holmes; grandson, Clayton Thomas Holmes; and great granddaughter, Maci Alexander Holmes. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nina Tidwell Holmes; children, Tommy Holmes (Tammy), Jimmy Holmes (Joan) and Rebecca Bruce (Carl); grandchildren, Jason Holmes (Kim), Jarrod Holmes (Danielle), Caleb Bruce, Cole Bruce (Sarah), Chrystal Holmes and Misty Holmes; great grandchildren, Carter Drake Holmes, Justin Pendarvis, Christian Bonnette and Karmen Holmes; great-great grandchild, Haylen Pendarvis; brother, Jerry W. Holmes (Lawanda); and brother-in-law, Coston Tidwell (Rose Marie). Pallbearers were Jason Holmes, Jerrod Holmes, Caleb Bruce, Cole Bruce, James Wilson, AJ Wilson, Austin Torres and Jody Kendrick. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Bruce, Bruce Cockerham and Jim Hudson.
