
Thomas Venson Yule, 65, of Long Branch, Texas, and a native of Nebo, passed away on Friday evening, February 24, 2017, in Nacogdoches.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1951 in Jena to the late Joe David “Dave” and Agnes Lucille Paul Yule.
Thomas graduated from Jena High School with the class of 1969 and attended Criswell College where he focused on biblical studies, and became an ordained minister. Thomas worked in the oilfield industry as a consultant for many years. He married Eva Louise Hopkins on Apr. 12, 1974, in Olla.
He loved fishing and hunting, especially quail hunting which was his passion. Thomas coached Dixie League Baseball for many years. He moved to the Carthage area in 1979, from Jena and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gary.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage, TX with the Revs. Toby Tipps and Jim Newton officiating.
A graveside service was held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Nebo Cemetery, where Thomas was laid to rest.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willie Yule; and a sister, Shannon Yule.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Yule of Long Branch, TX; children, Jesse Yule and wife Stephanie of Garrison, TX, Jody Dickson and husband William of Bastrop, Jina Yule, and Juston Yule and wife Victoria, all of Long Branch, TX, and Paul Karow of Garrison, TX; siblings, David Yule and wife Dean of Carthage, TX, Mark Yule and wife Laura of Jena, Sandra Peavy and husband Donnie of DeBerry, TX, Mollie Woods and husband Geoff of Seminole, TX, Sam Yule and wife Loretta of Olla, and Suzanne Carroll and husband David of DeBerry, TX; and grandchildren, Kiley, Enoch, Will, Dorothy, and Jolene.
Pallbearers were John Crooks, James Browning, Aaron Cariker, Paul Karow, Dave Carroll, and Jimmy Peavy.
Honorary pallbearers were David Yule, Mark Yule, Sam Yule, Enoch Yule, Will Dickson, Rob Browning, Jabara Williams, Rode’ Yule, Jeff Crooks, James Crooks, Jack Peavy, Joe Peavy, Duncan Hatch, and Christian Collins.
