Wayne Edward Smith, 70 of Sikes, and a native of Urania, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. He was born Sunday, March 3, 1946 in Urania, to the union of his parents, Maxel and Ruby Jenkins Smith. Wayne was a member of Murray Street Baptist Church in Lake Charles and the Retread Motorcycle Club and was retired from Texas Eastman in Longview, TX. He served his country in the United States Army. Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19 in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with the Revs. Kevin Womack, John W. Maloy and Michael McBride officiating. Interment followed in the Wright Cemetery in Sikes under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby Smith; nephew, Bryan Smith; and great niece, Suzanne Miller. Survivors include his brother, Max D. Smith and wife Jan; sister, Delynda Womack and husband Lane; nieces and nephews, Tanya Clark and husband Tigger, Dana Smith, Ashley Carson and husband Seth, Karla Womack and Kevin Womack, in addition to several great-nieces and nephews, first cousins and friends.
