
Clyde Rufus Delaney, 73, of Manifest Community in Catahoula Parish, passed from this life on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was born November 1, 1939 in Monticello, Mississippi, to the union of his parents, Clyde J. and Maggie Squyres Delaney. Rufus was retired as an advertising make-up man with the Alexandria Town Talk. He was employed for many years by The Jena Times as a pressman. He was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church of Manifest. Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 8, in the New Life Pentecostal Church of Manifest with Rev. David Poole officiating. Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery of Manifest under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charlie F. Delaney. Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue Delaney of Manifest; daughter, Renee Pippins of Jena; son, Rusty Delaney of Jonesville; four grandchildren, Kayla Pippins, Karly Pippins, Eric Delaney and Steven Delaney; three sisters, Minnie Holland and husband Delton of McCall Creek, MS, Shirley Sandlin and husband Ron of Spring, TX, and Marie Cowan and husband Bobby of Ferriday; three brothers, James Delaney and wife Wanda of Magnolia, TX, Lynn Delaney and wife Linda of Ferriday, and Eugene Delaney and wife Linda of Livingston, TX; and sister-in-law, Ernestine Delaney of Monroe. Pallbearers were Devra Stockman, Randy Stockman, Claude Ellard, Russell Delaney, Leon Punchard, and Brad Cockerham. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Delaney, Steven Delaney, Jeremy Johnson, men of New Life Pentecostal Church, men of Manifest Fire Department, with special mention to Kayla and Karly Pippins.
