Joel Clyde Williams, 69, of Georgetown, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at University Health in Shreveport. He was born September 8, 1947 in Winnfield to the union of his parents, Troy and Virgie Wyatt Williams. Mr. Williams was a self-employed logging contractor, was Baptist by faith, and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, at Beulah Baptist Church near Georgetown with Rev. Lamar Carpenter officiating. Interment followed in the Beulah Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kim Williams; brother, Terry Williams; and three grandchildren, Joel Armstrong, Howard Armstrong and Dustin Henderson. Survivors include his wife, Marguariette Murphrey Williams of Georgetown; daughter, Missy Williams of Georgetown; brother, Tom Collier Williams of Shreveport; two grandchildren, Megan Armstrong and Dylan Armstrong, both of Georgetown. Pallbearers were Richie King, Bobbie Conville, Richard Mark Maxwell, Clay Maxwell, Jack Barrett and Jack Corley. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Harris, Willie D. Atwell, Mike Nichols and John Wooten.
